VALIANT AIR COMMAND ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP
"LEARN HOW TO FLY"

Ken Terry, VAC Operations Officer, and Scott McCloud, Director of Scholarships for the VAC and a former astronaut are working "valiantly" to find a local high school student in the Northern Brevard County area to award a scholarship to learn how to fly.

This would take place at DeBenair Aviation at the Space Coast Airport in Titusville. This will be awarded to one lucky student who has the drive and ambition to improve his/her life and because of finances or their home life would not be able to do this on their own. They would have to be motivated to complete the work necessary for their license and not necessarily be at the top of the class in academics. They would have to have the ability to finish this to the end and want to be able to develop their full potential.

Robert Sell, previous winner of this scholarship, is a perfect example of this success. Coming from a single parent home, his family would have been unable to finance this goal. He is 2/3's the way through his scholarship now and his grades have improved and his life is better because of this award. Students from Astronaut High and Titusville High are among those that will be considered for this prestigious award.

The Red Baron Pizza Squadron and DeBenair Aviation, in cooperation with the Valiant Air Command, have been the driving force behind Robert's scholarship and have all agreed to help continue to fund it for others. The rest of the money necessary to help others will be from individual and local business donations.

"The Valiant Air Command has been active for the last 30 years in North Brevard County and we hope to expand this program as rapidly as possible", according to Scott McCloud upon accepting his new appointment. Ken and Scott can be reached at the Valiant Air Command Museum at 321-268-1941.
